Brief Bio

Dr Quraisha Dawood (PhD) is a Deputy Dean of Research at the IIE's Varsity College. She received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2016. She is a member of the International Sociological Association (RC 52) and the Development Studies Association.


Her interests lie in intersectionality, employment, gender and religion. Most recently she has published ‘Stirring the Pot’ (Penguin), which was based on her Masters thesis on ‘madams and maids.’ She has also published an autobiographical account of motherhood and postpartum depression entitled 'Almost Me,' published by YIZ publishers.
